Driver Education Parent Meeting

Date: Thursday, September 20, 2018

Where: High School Auditorium

Time: 7:00 PM

Mr. Sprenkle and Mr. Poalucci will explain the driver education program (30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind the wheel training, and taking your road test) and give you answers to the following questions.

  • How does my teenager get their permit?
  • Is behind the wheel training for every student?
  • How does my teenager get behind the wheel training?
  • How does my teenager take their road test at a testing center?
  • How does my teenager take their road test at South Western?
  • What should I (parent) be doing with my teenager when we drive together?
  • What is a parent/teen driving contract and what are the benefits?

Attention Parents of Juniors and Seniors

The National Honor Society has distributed applications to all eligible students Friday, September 7th.  Only juniors and seniors with a minimum required GPA of 3.6 are eligible, and those students have already received a letter of explanation and an application. Applications are due by 3:15 P.M. on Friday, September 21st. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Vega or Mrs. Looman.

School Pictures

School pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Students may select from several options and must pre-pay for their selected picture packages.  All students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will be required to have their pictures taken for school records and yearbook purposes.  Grade 12 students only need to have a picture taken if they have lost or do not have their student ID.

Student Parking Procedures

Driving to school is a privilege extended to students who meet and adhere to the high school procedures. Students must register with a valid driver’s license (permits not accepted) and pay for their parking permit to receive an assigned parking space. Permits are $20.00 per school year.

The Parking Procedures are attached, please read the procedures and return the completed Parent/Student Statement sheet with a valid driver’s license and payment (cash or check made out to SWHS). If the paperwork is not filled out completely, you will not receive your permit.

Seniors can begin registering for their parking permit on the following dates: August 3, 6, and 8, 2018.

Juniors can begin registering for their parking permit on the following dates: August 10, 13, and 15, 2018.
