First Day of School

Freshman orientation is Monday, August 19, 2019.

First day for all students is Tuesday, August 20, 2019.



Freshman Parent Meeting

Please plan to attend a freshman parent meeting on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the high school auditorium.

Freshman Orientation

Link Crew Freshman Orientation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 8:20 am – 1:45 pm.  Seniors and juniors will be serving as leaders and mentors to the freshman. Freshman will learn where your classes are located, meet some teachers, eat in the cafeteria and receive your laptop computer.

Your day will be active, please wear comfortable clothes and DO NOT bring anything with you.

Pizza will be provided or you can pack your lunch.

Buses will be running on a special schedule that day. You should have received a pink paper from the transportation department with the special pick up/drop off times.

Important Information from the Counseling Office

All students should have received a copy of their 2019-2020 course schedule in the mail.  If you have not received your schedule in the mail, please call the Counseling Office at 717-632-2548 extension 21796 to request a copy.

Any student wishing to request a schedule change should call the Counseling Office to make an appointment. Schedule change appointments will be available on the following dates: July 8, July 29, and July 30. Counselors will meet with students to attempt to balance core classes or fix scheduling errors. Elective changes will not be permitted.

July 30th is the last day to adjust schedules for the FALL and SPRING semesters.


2019-2020 Student Driver’s Parking Procedures

Driving to school is a privilege extended to students who meet and adhere to the high school procedures. Students must register with a valid driver’s license (permits not accepted) and pay for their parking permit to receive an assigned parking space. Permits are $20.00 per school year.

The Parking Procedures are attached, please read the procedures and return the completed Parent/Student Statement sheet with a valid driver’s license and payment (cash or check made out to SWHS).

Seniors can begin registering for their parking permit on August 5, 2019.

All other driver’s can begin registering for their parking permit on August 12, 2019.

Turnaround Achievement Award Winner

Senior Ezra Bosse, was honored as South Western’s 2019 Turnaround Achievement Award winner.  Ezra was nominated by Mrs. Lacey Anderson and Ms. Heather Yunkin.  Ezra was joined by Mrs. Anderson and Ms. Yunkin at the 24th Annual Turnaround Achievement Awards sponsored by the York Area Bowling Proprietors’ Association.  Ezra was also one of four students who won a $1500 scholarship. Congratulations Ezra!  South Western is very proud of you!

Safety Education Sign Ups

Any current sophomore, junior, or senior that has completed Safety Education with Mr. Sprenkle or Mr. Poalucci that is interested in behind the wheel training this summer must sign up beginning Monday, May 6th.  Sign ups will take place in the high school cafeteria from 7:45 am to 8:20 am.  Sign ups will take place all week at the same time until all the spots are filled.  Students will need to know what week and time of the day they are available to drive.
