You must answer the following prompt as an assessment on your Pa. History Unit. You must include a “Thesis”, providing a 3-4 sentence overview of the main ideas to be covered in your essay, followed by 3-4 support paragraphs that provide specific information to support your “thesis statement”. The assignment will be worth 25 pts. based on the “Blog Posting Rubric”.
“The history of the Commonwealth” continues to influence Pennsylvanians today, and has impacted the United States, as well as the rest of the world. Pennsylvania has played a very significant role in the social, political and economic development of the United States. Assess the validity of this statement.

Do you trend Democratic or Republican?????

After researching the positions on the major issues, record the positions of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party on the handout provided by the teacher. When you have completed this task, go back and hi-lite the position that is most similar to your position. Finally, you are to write a 300-500 word response, on the blog, explaining whether you tend to agree more with the Democratic Party, Republican Party or are moderate in your approach to politics. Be sure to use specific examples from your research to support your position. The assignment will be graded according to the “blog posting rubric” on a 20-15-10 scale.

Veteran’s Day Writing Assignment

This posting is part three of your Veteran’s Day Presentation assignment. You have already submitted four questions for use during the presentations and demonstrated active analysis of the presentations in the question/answer portion of the presentation. Now, you must write a 500-600 word essay on the following prompt: How has the service of Americans in the military, helped to protect the rights of all Americans at home?

The response must contain a 2-3 sentence Thesis statement, at least 1 supporting paragraph, and a conclusion. You must include at least two references to actions taken by the presenters in your supporting paragraph.

Chapter 8, Section 1: How Governments Work Together

We live under three levels of government – local, state and federal. Without cooperation amongst each of these levels everyday life would not run smoothly. In this assignment, you need to peruse on-line news sites and find at least 2 examples of how two different levels of government are working together. Use the examples discussed in class to help you in your search. When you have found your examples, write a well-developed paragraph using the Social Studies Writing Structure, as explained in class(TEV3I)that briefly summarizes your article/document and explains how the different levels of government were working together. You must write a separate paragraph for each article. Remember to include the link of the site for your source in your postings. Chapter 2 – The Purposes of Government

Use the “World Wide Web” or newspaper to find an article describing the activities of the National, State or Local governments. The article only needs to describe one level of government functioning in one of its roles. Print the article and then complete the following:

1. Decide which purpose of government the article illustrates.

2. Briefly summarize according to the “Article of the Week” Summary handout that was distributed in class. Be sure to explain how the government is carrying out the function that you have stated in #1.

3. You must include the web address for the article that you are summarizing.

4. The article will be worth is 15 points based on the Article of the Week handout. You must show proof of reading for the article.
