Erika McKee is currently in her 24th year as Choral Director at South Western High School. In addition to serving as Department Chair, Mrs. McKee conducts the Women’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Men’s Choral Ensemble (You’ve Got Male), Show Choir (Singchronicity) and the pop a cappella group, Extreme Measures. She also teaches Piano I/II, Voice Class and Music Humanities. Mrs. McKee received her BS in Music Education from Clarion University with a concentration in piano and saxophone and an MM in Music Education from Bowling Green University in Ohio with a concentration in choral conducting and piano pedagogy.
In addition, she has taken additional courses through Penn State University. Under her direction, the choral ensembles of South Western High School have traveled and participated in festivals in Toronto, New York City, Myrtle Beach, and Disney World. In 1994, Mrs. McKee received the Teacher of The Year Award for South Western High School. From 1991-1999, Mrs. McKee served as the accompanist and assistant to the director for the Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus that consists of students from all over the United States and travels to Europe each summer. In addition, she served as the Repertoire and Standards Chairperson for the American Choral Directors Association representing show choirs from 1992-2001. Mrs. McKee is a member of MENC, PMEA and ACDA. Mrs. McKee and her husband reside in York, PA with their 3 boys.
